Terminals on butt connectors are used to mate, connect, or terminate a single or several wires. These connectors are simply parallel terminals that are used to connect two wires or one wire to two distinct wires. Because of its design and application, a butt connector is sometimes known as a butt splice. Butt connectors are commonly found in-vehicle applications such as automotive and marine, but they can also be found in a variety of electrical applications requiring a wire connection. Stripping the ends of both wires, inserting them into the terminal ends, and crimping both ends of the butt connector with a crimp tool is how most butt connectors are installed.
