HMS Hub bronze 13 spline (VS-25) acts as a shock absorber between the prop blades and the shaft. They are made to fit into the propeller hub with minimum strain while remaining highly resistant to spin slippage. A good prop hub that keeps the propeller perfectly centered on the prop shaft, attenuates vibrations and prevents the shaft from the tremendous shock of impacting something submerged with the propeller.
