IGNITER (17/18) Shrinkfast When you press the piezo igniter trigger, it hammers on a crystal (typically quartz), creating voltage that travels up the ignition wire and causes a spark at the spark plug, igniting the propane gas into a flame. The piezoelectric crystal that is hammered generates voltage. It gradually wears down and produces less voltage. The Shrinkfast Heat Gun Trigger/Igniter Assembly (Part# 17/18 on the diagram) compresses the plunger on the Valve Assembly (Part #22), allowing fuel to enter the heat gun's system. Simultaneously, the trigger compresses the attached piezo igniter, creating an electrical current that travels up the attached ignition wire, leading up to and inside the Body (part #10) and (part #27). To make a secure connection, the Contact Screw (part #25) screws through the ignition wire and into the socket. It is critical to squeeze this trigger/igniter slowly for the two steps to occur at slightly different times. The trigger should open the valve, allowing propane to flow through the gun, closely followed.
