The prop nuts' job is to maintain the propeller's snug fit against the shaft taper. Prop nuts don't take much strain during operation because the engine's power holds the propeller pressing on the shaft. Although it is just momentary and of no concern, the nuts may experience some load when moving backward. The only real difference between CW (clockwise) and CCW (counterclockwise) motors is the direction of the threads on the prop shaft. That indicates that the prop nut is tightened by rotating clockwise for a CCW motor. Additionally, to secure the prop nuts for CW motors, they must be turned counterclockwise.
