Shrink tape is designed to constrict and squeeze the underlying structure as heat is applied, often when wrapped around a product during a curing process. Multiple layers of material can be consolidated or laminated using the compressive force generated by the tape shrinking. Shrink tape can be used instead of vacuum bagging or autoclaving parts, but it can also be used in combination with both. Dr. Shrink 3/4" X 1-665 Foot Roll (13-750HW) is used for taping off the material, seaming two pieces of shrink film, installing zipper hatch windows/doors, and minor repairs and maintenance. As your resin begins to flow, shrink tapes will deliver the appropriate amount of compressive strength. This custom compression curve allows for more ply compaction, air void elimination in the part walls, and a smooth, resin-rich surface finish.
