Also known as rotary thrust washers or thrust bearings, flat thin, washer-shaped components are made from cast bronze. A Forward Thrust washer is needed to keep the propeller centered on the shaft; the soft inner prop hub fails to do so under adverse high-torque conditions. Designed to support axial loads and are instrumental in keeping components aligned along a shaft, capable of accommodating the forces of control axial displacement.
