THERMOSTAT GASKET (REC63P-12414-00) prevents the engine from leaking oil and coolant. It is located next to the engine block and close to the cylinder head. Custom-made intended to create a seal between the thermostat housing and the engine of the vessel. The coolant in the engine is constantly flowing through ports in the block and head; it travels through these two components, through the thermostat housing, and into the radiator, where it is cooled. The thermostat controls coolant flow housed in the engine component. As long as there are no directional indicators, thermostat gaskets can be installed with the striping facing either way.
THERMOSTAT GASKET (REC63P-12414-00) A flat material, such as paper, rubber, silicone, metal, cork, felt, neoprene, nitrile rubber, fiberglass, polytetrafluoroethylene (also known as PTFE or Teflon), or a plastic polymer, is used to make gaskets (such as polychlorotrifluoroethylene). The ability to withstand high compressive loads is one of the more desirable properties of an effectively compressed fiber gasket in industrial applications.
