An effective arrangement for the initial separation of water and particulate matter in a lower chamber is part of a combination fuel filter and water separator that is particularly useful at the upstream; suction side of a fuel pump. The fluid then passes up through a backflow-preventing check valve and into an upper chamber where fine filtration occurs.
A fuel filter and water separator assembly do filtering of solid particles from diesel fuel and potentially present water contaminants. The amount of pollutants in your gasoline determines how long a fuel filter and water separator will function properly. Your fuel filter and water separator will last longer if your diesel fuel has fewer pollutants and contaminants. Typically, you'll be able to tell whether your water separator and fuel filter need to be changed if you observe a decrease in the flow or pressure of your gasoline. A need for replacement indicates that your fuel filter is already saturated.
