RELAY FOR POWERLIFT 80 AMP (30-7493) from Cook Mfg. is an electromagnetic switch that electromechanically or electronically opens and closes circuits specifically for CMC jack plates and trim and tilts. It can turn on or off a much larger electric current because of a small electric current that controls it. Because relays receive an electrical signal and deliver it to other equipment by turning the switch on and off, they work similarly to other electrical items. The relay contacts are not activated whether they are ordinarily closed or normally open. It only opens if you introduce an electrical current to the contacts will it change state.
